What does PIV™ stand for?
With PIV™ we offer a full portfolio of mechanical gear units for a wide variety of industrial applications specialized in Plastic and Rubber. Based in Germany since 1928, PIV™ Drives specializes in building gear units that meet the demanding requirements of modern industry – in terms of quality, reliability, exceptional performance and life expectancy. As part of the recent Dana Off-Highway acquisition by Allison Transmission, PIV™ is now part of Allison global portfolio.
PIV™ solutions are built in a production plant located in Bad Homburg, near Frankfurt, and covers a surface area of 60,000 square meters. The plant includes a new assembly hall for gear boxes up to 50 tons, At the factory also helical and bevel helical gearboxes, single- and twin-extruder drives are produced. The site has Research, development, design, manufacturing and testing capabilities of gearboxes
All key production processes -even from raw materials- are managed internally, so we stay fully in line with customer quality specifications and timeline requirements. This includes turning, drilling, milling, grinding, chiseling, hardening and the use of a CNC machining center for housings. 3D design, gearing and bearing calculations, FEM calculations, simulations and production optimization are dealt with in-house as well. Assembly is performed according to kaizen principles.

Quality is the be-all and end-all for us. Our high-quality products and the professional consulting services we offer our customers and partners in all delivery and service phases stand for this. A second essential quality building block are the numerous certifications according to officially recognized norms and standards, which we have received since 1994.
Our gears and manufacturing steps undergo extensive internal testing and inspection, including three-dimensional examination using measuring centers, roughness and hardness depth determination, contour measurement, spectral analysis, hardness testing, logging, test equipment monitoring and final acceptance. The results are comprehensively documented and provided.
